Indra eyes new armored vehicle factories in Galicia amid defence spending surge

Indra is finalising the Gijón plant (the Tallerón) and is looking for additional sites. After a failed agreement with Duro Felguera to acquire the Barros workshop in Langreo, Asturias, the company is prioritising a new plant in As Pontes, Galicia.

The recent NATO agreement to increase defence spending has generated billions of euros in contracts for the sector. Recasens noted that Indra is "multiplying its delivery capacity between six and ten times" across ground vehicles, drones and radars, and must also hire staff quickly. The firm plans to work with partners such as Santa Bárbara Sistemas, the Tess Defence consortium and the Basque firm Sapa to support programmes like self‑propelled howitzers and to eventually export technology beyond Spain's borders.
