Indra opens new military vehicle factory in As Pontes
Indra Group is inaugurating a new military vehicle manufacturing plant in the Penapurreira industrial park in As Pontes, Galicia. The project involves an investment of approximately 18 million euros to develop nearly 15,000 square meters of built space on a 50,000-square-meter plot.
The facility is intended to create one of Europe’s largest industrial hubs for land platforms. It will focus on integrating amphibious combat vehicles, bridge-laying vehicles, and wheeled artillery systems for the Spanish Armed Forces. The plant is expected to generate between 70 and 120 highly qualified direct jobs, in addition to indirect employment within the supply chain.
This expansion coincides with Indra’s efforts to secure major defense contracts, including the potential finalization of the 1,970 million euro Vehículo de Apoyo de Cadenas (VAC) program, which involves 394 units for the Spanish Army.
