Indra selects Galicia for second military vehicle factory

Spanish technology group Indra announced that its second ground‑military vehicle plant will be built in a former industrial hall in As Pontes, Galicia. The site, owned by the regional government (Xunta), will be adapted by an engineering firm and work on the premises has already begun. The move follows a stalled expansion plan in Asturias, where negotiations with Duro Felguera over the Barros workshop fell through.

Indra's new chief executive, Josep Maria Recasens, stressed that meeting the Spanish Army's delivery deadlines is a priority, noting that the company has secured contracts for more than 600 vehicles under the army’s modernization programmes. In parallel, Indra signed a protocol to establish an Aerospace and Defence Centre in Vigo, aiming to host over 200 specialised staff by 2026.
