Indramayu students suspected of food poisoning after Free Nutritious Meal consumption

A total of 143 students at SMAN 1 Tukdana in Indramayu Regency, West Java, reportedly suffered from suspected food poisoning after consuming meals from the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) program on Monday, October 5, 2026.

Symptoms reported by the students included dizziness, nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain following the consumption of a menu featuring flour-coated chicken. According to the Indramayu Health Office, eight students were treated at a community health center (puskesmas) and five were referred to RSUD Indramayu. Most students have since been discharged, though some continue to receive outpatient monitoring.

SPPG Kerticala II, the provider of the meals, has stated it will take responsibility by covering medical expenses for students without insurance or BPJS. A joint team has collected food and water samples for laboratory testing by the Indramayu Health Office and BPOM to determine the exact cause of the incident.
