inDrive expands number masking technology to GSM calls in Chile

The mobility and delivery platform inDrive has expanded its phone number masking technology to include traditional GSM cellular network calls in Chile. Previously, this data protection feature was only available for internet-based calls made within the application.

The system works by assigning a temporary proxy number with a specific extension to validate the call and establish a connection exclusively between the parties involved in a trip. This ensures that the actual phone numbers of both drivers and passengers remain private. This feature is already active in Brazil, Mexico, and Peru.

This update complements inDrive’s existing security ecosystem in Chile, which includes AI-moderated internal chat, identity verification, real-time trip monitoring, audio recording during trips, an emergency button for direct police contact, and trip sharing options.
