Industrial redevelopment projects advance in Făgăraș and Oțelu Roșu

Significant industrial redevelopment projects are underway in Romania. In Făgăraș, BDC Recycling SRL has submitted documentation to the Brașov County Environmental Directorate to transform a former chemical plant hall into a waste sorting and packaging station. The 1,441-square-meter facility is designed to process between 4,000 and 5,000 tons of economic waste annually, including materials from the food, wood, and textile industries. The project focuses on non-hazardous and hazardous industrial waste and will not handle household refuse.

In Oțelu Roșu, construction is advancing on a new rolling mill at the site of the former steel plant. The project, led by the Umbrărescu family's UMB Group through Eco Wind Power, represents an investment exceeding one billion lei. The new facility will span approximately 24,000 square meters and is expected to be completed in about 14 months. This initiative aims to revitalize the industrial platform that has remained largely unused since the original plant ceased operations in 2012.
