Industrial investment and redevelopment in Romania
Overview
Romania is experiencing a period of industrial expansion and redevelopment across various sectors. In the food processing industry, investments totaling nearly 300 million euros are driving the opening of five new factories. Notable projects include a 200 million euro poultry facility by Transavia in Alba county, a 35 million euro pet food plant by United Petfood in Dâmbovița county, and the establishment of Ferrero România Industrial SRL in Timișoara to facilitate local chocolate and cocoa production.
Simultaneously, efforts to revitalize former industrial sites are progressing. In Făgăraș, plans are underway to convert a former chemical plant hall into a waste sorting and packaging station capable of processing up to 5,000 tons of industrial waste annually. In Oțelu Roșu, the UMB Group is investing over one billion lei to construct a new rolling mill on the site of a former steel plant, aiming to repurpose the platform that has been largely inactive since 2012.
