Industry leaders in Chile call for local development and regulatory certainty

In separate regional developments, Chilean industry leaders are advocating for enhanced local integration and clearer regulatory frameworks to support key economic sectors.

At the ProMinería ASIVA 2026 event in Viña del Mar, stakeholders from the mining, public, and academic sectors gathered to discuss the development of local suppliers and the potential of the Valparaíso Region. Jorge Riesco, president of the National Mining Society (SONAMI), emphasized the importance of connecting local providers to the industry to facilitate international links and support new investments, such as the Vizcachitas project.

Meanwhile, in the Los Lagos Region, SalmonChile participated in AquaForum 2026 to address the socio-economic impact of salmon farming. Patricio Melero, president of SalmonChile, presented an economic study highlighting the sector's contribution to the region, noting that salmon farming supports 47,279 jobs in Los Lagos, representing 15.2% of the local workforce. Melero called on the State to provide regulatory certainty and agile management to ensure the industry's continued development.
