INEC reports 9.3 million new youth voters in Nigeria

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that 9,324,349 young Nigerians newly registered during the 2026 Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercises. To support this growth, the Commission has unveiled nine new and returning INEC Youth Ambassadors (IYAs) to increase engagement and voter awareness ahead of the 2027 General Election.

In Oyo State, INEC will begin distributing newly printed Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs) across all 33 Local Government Area offices starting October 9. The distribution, scheduled daily from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm, is intended for newly registered voters, those who transferred polling units, and individuals replacing lost or damaged cards. Collection must be done in person and not by proxy.
