Turkey advances urban transformation and earthquake resilience projects

Various urban transformation and reconstruction projects are advancing across several Turkish cities to increase earthquake resilience and modernize housing stocks.

In Istanbul, the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change has completed 1,642 independent housing units across the Maltepe, Gaziosmanpaşa, and Zeytinburnu districts. These new residences are being handed over to owners following a lottery ceremony.

In Sakarya, the Tığcılar Urban Transformation Project has entered its first phase. This neighborhood-based initiative, supported by the Ministry and the Marmara Urban Transformation Presidency, aims to transform 718 units into earthquake-resistant structures, beginning with a demolition ceremony.

In İnegöl, the Turgutalp Neighborhood Urban Transformation Project has reached a new milestone with the groundbreaking of its second and third stages. This large-scale project, spanning approximately 153 acres, will eventually include 447 new residences and 66 commercial units, alongside social facilities such as green spaces, swimming pools, and parking. The first stage of the project is expected to see its initial key deliveries in October 2027.
