Infinity Ward reveals new DMZ mode details for Modern Warfare 4

Infinity Ward has revealed details regarding the revamped DMZ mode in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4. Positioned as a standalone extraction shooter experience, the mode focuses on high-action gameplay and strategic decision-making rather than menu-heavy workflows.

Key features include a dedicated progression system consisting of 70 levels and a persistent economy for cash and crafting materials. Players will utilize a Forward Operating Base (FOB) as a central hub to manage operators, equipment, and supplies. The FOB will include specialized systems such as a 3D printer, a Gunsmith, and various vendors.

Gameplay will take place in the Hajin region, an open world featuring dynamic weather, patrolling enemies, and evolving mission objectives. Players can engage in story missions, dynamic operations, or free exploration. The mode will feature increased AI density, including powerful Lieutenants and Commanders with support units, offering high-stakes loot opportunities where players must balance exploration with the risk of losing progress and equipment upon failure.
