Influencer Ilyas Maluma receives police warning over subway video

Influencer Ilyas Maluma has received an oral warning from the Police Commissioner of Turin, Massimo Gambino, following a viral video in which he filmed himself jumping subway turnstiles to avoid paying fares. The video, which garnered thousands of views, included an invitation for followers to replicate the behavior.

Authorities noted that the content has a clear capacity to generate emulation among young audiences. In the official measure, the police highlighted Maluma’s perceived social danger, citing previous investigations for crimes against persons and property, as well as social media posts displaying cash, objects resembling weapons, and violations of traffic laws. The police stated such narratives contribute to normalizing illegal behaviors.

Maluma has since deleted the video and released a follow-up clip claiming the original post was intended as a joke. He stated, “When I said: ‘I’ll teach you to jump, I was joking. I absolutely do not want the kids who follow me to do illegal things but to respect the rules and pay the ticket.” The warning was officially served to him by the Border Police at Fiumicino upon his return from abroad.
