Jiang Xiaorou, Chinese influencer, dies after fatal traffic accident
Chinese social media influencer Jiang Xiaorou, known for paranormal content and superstition-testing videos, has died at age 24 following a severe traffic accident. Jiang, who had approximately 1.3 million followers on Douyin, was a passenger in a vehicle traveling from Guangxi to Guangzhou on July 15 when the crash occurred.
Following the accident, Jiang underwent nearly a month of intensive medical treatment for severe injuries, including traumatic brain injury, hemorrhagic shock, and organ failure. She passed away on August 10.
Her death has sparked significant online discussion due to a video she posted roughly one year prior, in which she used a hammer to destroy a statue of Guanyin, the Buddhist goddess of mercy, as part of an experiment to test for curses. While some social media users have characterized the accident as “karma,” there is no evidence linking the crash to the previous video. Her family has requested that the public stop spreading unverified information and respect their privacy during this time.
