Influencers in Spain face declining credibility among young audiences

Influencers in Spain are facing a significant decline in credibility and audience engagement as followers express growing fatigue with idealized lifestyles. This shift is driven by a perceived disconnect between the privileged lives showcased by creators and the everyday realities of their young audience. Recent controversies regarding social and political stances have further fueled this alienation.

Data from marketing platform Kolsquare highlights Spain as the fifth largest European market in the creator economy, with over 153,000 commercially relevant creators. Instagram remains the dominant platform with approximately 102,575 creators, followed by TikTok with 50,822. Despite these large numbers, audiences are increasingly rejecting content formats like ‘get ready with me’ or ‘a day in my life’ that they view as inauthentic or unrelatable.
