INFOSA begins salt harvest at Salines de la Trinitat

INFOSA has launched the 2026 salt harvest at the Salines de la Trinitat in the Ebro Delta. The campaign is starting slightly later than usual due to weather conditions.

Excessive rainfall during the previous autumn and winter significantly impacted production processes, with some periods seeing nearly two and a half times the usual rainfall. This forced the company to work throughout the year to restore necessary production conditions. Additionally, high humidity and low wind speeds during the summer have not provided ideal conditions for crystallization.

As a result, production is forecasted to be approximately 80,000 tonnes of sea salt, which is below the typical annual range of 90,000 to 100,000 tonnes. This figure is also lower than the 83,000 tonnes collected in 2025 and significantly less than the 120,000 tonnes achieved in 2023 and 2024. Manel Salvador, manager of INFOSA, noted that while the harvest will be thin, it is not the disaster originally feared.
