Infraestruturas de Portugal begins EN2 slope stabilization in Abrantes

Infraestruturas de Portugal (IP) has commenced stabilization works on a slope along the National Road 2 (EN2) in the Espinhaço de Cão area of Abrantes. The project involves an investment of approximately 1.27 million euros.

The intervention aims to reinforce slope stability and improve road safety through the installation of high-resistance networks, drainage systems, and protective coatings. These works respond to damage caused by severe weather earlier this year, which triggered landslides and necessitated temporary closures of the road section.

The project is expected to be completed by January 26, 2027. During the 90-day execution period, traffic will be managed via alternating lanes regulated by traffic lights. This stretch of the EN2 is a vital access point for Abrantes, connecting the urban center and the bridge over the Tagus River to the southern part of the municipality.
