Infrastructure and water crises reported in Sjenica and Vrgorac

Residents in Sjenica, Serbia, are facing severe living conditions due to unresolved sewage and wastewater issues. Local inhabitants in the Pašino brdo neighborhood have reported that wastewater accumulates near homes, creating significant health and safety hazards. One resident, Alen Crnovršanin, reported that his child nearly suffocated after falling into an open sewer while riding a bicycle. Other locals have noted that the wastewater has caused livestock to die, and they continue to call for government intervention to provide basic living conditions.

In Vrgorac, Croatia, a major water supply crisis is unfolding due to extremely low water levels at the Banja source. The situation has led to widespread water shortages across several settlements. In response, firefighters from across the Split-Dalmatia County have delivered over half a million liters of water, and the Croatian Army has joined the operation to assist with the supply. Vrgorac Mayor Mile Herceg has urged citizens to ignore political attempts to exploit the crisis, stating that his priority remains restoring a stable water supply before addressing political disputes.
