Infrastructure damage reported in Puerto Vallarta and Guayaquil

In Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, a sinkhole has opened on Colombia Street in the city center, located in front of the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) facilities. Civil Protection and traffic authorities have cordoned off the area to protect pedestrians and drivers. The damage is believed to have been caused by heavy traffic, recent rains, and potential underground leaks in the drainage or water networks. Local residents and merchants have called for urgent repairs from Public Works and the water operator, SEAPAL.

In Guayaquil, Ecuador, a pedestrian bridge on Benjamín Rosales Avenue is in a state of disrepair. The structure, which connects the Jaime Roldós Aguilera land terminal to the Metrovía Río Daule trunk line, has a collapsing roof that poses a risk to approximately 20,000 daily users. Despite recent municipal maintenance efforts in the city, the deteriorating condition of the bridge has been exacerbated by intense rainfall.
