Infrastructure expansion continues in Wülfrath and Kammerstein

Infrastructure development projects are underway in several German regions, focusing on fiber optic connectivity and district heating.

In Wülfrath, Greenfiber, in partnership with Stadtwerke Wülfrath, is constructing a local fiber optic network. Managing Director Uwe Krabbe noted that while house connections may be completed, full activation often requires the completion of the broader backbone infrastructure, technical testing, and the connection of various network segments to the central node.

In Kammerstein, Nahwärme Kammerstein eG has launched a 3.1 million euro project to expand the local district heating network. Construction is scheduled to begin in September, with a target commissioning date between December 2026 and January 2027. The project will cover approximately 73 houses in phases. To optimize costs, Telekom fiber optic cables will be laid alongside the heating network trenches in certain sections, potentially facilitating simultaneous access to both services.
