Infrastructure failures cause power outages in Cuba and Chile

Electrical infrastructure issues are causing power disruptions in Cuba and Chile.

In Cuba, Unit 1 of the Felton Thermoelectric Plant remains disconnected from the National Electric System following the discovery of a crack near the boiler dome and over 100 anomalies in the turbogroup. Technical teams have been working to repair leaks and improve machine efficiency. The unit's return to the grid depends on the results of a scheduled hydraulic test. This outage contributes to a significant generation deficit in the country.

In Chile, a transformer failure at the San Enrique Substation in Lo Barnechea has interrupted electricity supply to several mountain winter centers, including Farellones, El Colorado, La Parva, and Valle Nevado. Enel Distribución reported that repair efforts are expected to take at least 10 hours to restore service to the affected metropolitan and mountain regions.
