Infrastructure investments announced in Chile and Spain
In Chile, the Ministry of Public Works has launched the ‘Plan Chile Despega’, a national initiative involving 241 contracts with a total investment of approximately $377 billion pesos, aiming to create 23,000 jobs. In the Tarapacá Region specifically, the plan allocates $16.757 billion pesos toward seven rapid-execution projects. These works, concentrated in the Tamarugal Province—including Camiña, Huara, and Pozo Almonte—will focus on road conservation, rural paving, sanitary infrastructure, and riverbank protection.
In Spain, the Junta de Andalucía has mobilized over 5.7 million euros for emergency works to repair damage caused by intense storms that hit the Campo de Gibraltar between late 2025 and early 2026. Part of the ‘Plan Andalucía Actúa’, the investment targets the Guadiaro, Hozgarganta, and Guadarranque river basins. Efforts include cleaning riverbeds, removing fallen trees and debris, and installing protective structures to restore hydraulic and environmental conditions.
