Infrastructure projects advance in Gabon and Madagascar

Infrastructure projects are advancing in Gabon and Madagascar to improve regional connectivity and economic access.

In Libreville, Gabon, construction is underway on a new secondary road connecting the Kinguélé market to Belle Peinture. This project, which has been a long-standing goal since 1968, aims to alleviate traffic congestion in the 3rd arrondissement and provide better access for emergency services and security forces to underserved neighborhoods. Local residents expect the road to improve safety and ease of access to public transportation.

In Madagascar, the rehabilitation of the strategic rural track known as the ‘cocoa road’ has reached the provisional reception stage. Spanning 43.9 kilometers through the Ambanja district, the project connects nine communes, including Ambanja, Andoharano, and Antsirasira. Funded by the World Bank under the Integrated Growth Poles (PIC) project, the road is designed to facilitate the transport of cocoa and vanilla, which are vital to the local economy. The improvements aim to reduce transport costs and delays caused by previously degraded conditions.
