Poland infrastructure: CPK terminal works and regional transport updates

Various infrastructure and transportation projects are progressing across Poland. At the Central Communication Port (CPK) site, Budimex has completed the trial piling stage for the passenger terminal, with a contract valued at nearly 146 million PLN. Meanwhile, DAR Al-Handasah, the lead civil engineering designer for CPK, has rejected claims that project delays are due to incompetence, asserting that the schedule will be met.

In Łódź, components for a massive Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) have arrived to begin drilling a 4.6 km high-speed rail tunnel starting in spring 2027. Other regional developments include the modernization of a road-tram viaduct in Katowice, scheduled for 2027, and roadwork in Kolbuszowa to improve pedestrian and cyclist safety. In Gliwice, modernization of the Łabędy station and surrounding road networks is underway, with completion expected by 2028. Additionally, an audit of the viaduct modernization over Paryska Street in Warsaw revealed cost increases and delays, prompting calls for accountability.
