Infrastructure projects advance with bridge construction in Gdańsk and Poznań

Major bridge reconstruction projects are underway in Poland. In Gdańsk, workers have begun concreting the foundations for the Siennicki Bridge. The project involves replacing the original 1912 supports, which relied on wooden piles in marshy ground. These old abutments had shifted up to 7 cm, causing total deformations exceeding 30 cm and threatening structural stability. Consequently, the bridge will be closed to cars and trams starting in 2025, with demolition of the old structures scheduled for early 2026.

In Poznań, construction has reached a significant milestone at the Chrobry Bridge with the start of concreting the northern slab. This phase allows the contractor to proceed with installing drainage, sidewalks, barriers, and road surfaces. The new structure utilizes steel elements manufactured in Kielce and is supported by newly built abutments and piles. Local engineering students from Poznań University of Technology recently visited the site to observe the technical processes firsthand.
