Infrastructure projects cause major road closures in Plzeň and Kladno

Significant infrastructure works are set to disrupt traffic in the Czech cities of Plzeň and Kladno.

In Plzeň, the railway crossing on Samaritan Street (Samaritská ulice) on the Plzeň–Klatovy line will be completely closed from October 30 to November 27, 2026, for reconstruction. Drivers will be diverted via Zborovská and Edvarda Beneše streets, while pedestrians will use a temporary corridor. The closure also affects public transport, specifically bus line 29, which will be rerouted and will no longer serve the Doudlevce ETZ stop, with Mlýnské nábřeží serving as an alternative.

In Kladno, the Sítenský bridge will undergo a complete reconstruction starting November 16. The project, managed by Metrostav, is expected to last approximately two and a half years, with a completion deadline of June 2029. The bridge, which connects the city center to the Sítná and Kročehlavy districts, will be entirely demolished, including its supporting pillars, with a planned demolition by explosion in late January or early February. The project is estimated to cost up to 200 million CZK and includes measures to protect local wildlife, such as bats residing in the structure.
