Czech Republic infrastructure and roadwork disruptions

Overview

Major infrastructure and road construction projects continue to cause significant traffic disruptions across several Czech cities.

In Plzeň, the reconstruction of Masarykova Street and its intersection with Těšínská and Na Dlouhých streets has entered a new phase, resulting in a total closure expected to last until mid-December. This phase involves repairing the roadway, sidewalks, and parking bays, alongside the construction of a two-way cycle path. Motorists are being diverted via Hřbitovní, Mohylová, Chrástecká, Jateční, and Rokycanská streets, while public transport lines are diverted via V Malé Doubravce.

Additionally, the railway crossing on Samaritan Street on the Plzeň–Klatovy line is scheduled for complete closure from October 30 to November 27, 2026. This affects bus line 29, which will be rerouted and will no longer serve the Doudlevce ETZ stop, with Mlýnské nábřeží serving as an alternative. Drivers will be diverted via Zborovská and Edvarda Beneše streets.

In Kladno, the long-term reconstruction of the Sítenský bridge is set to begin on November 16. Managed by Metrostav, the project involves the complete demolition of the bridge, including its pillars, with a planned explosion in late January or early February 2027. The project, which includes measures to protect local wildlife such as bats, is expected to last until June 2029 at an estimated cost of up to 200 million CZK.

In Benešov, utility repairs and street reconstructions are underway. Work on the gas pipeline in Jiřího Franka street is nearing completion, while Scheinerova street is being reconstructed to connect K. Nového with Dukelská, with a target completion by the end of November. Long-term modifications in the Červené Vršky zone are scheduled to continue through June 2027.
