Infrastructure projects launched in Rufisque and the Guiriko/Bama region

In Rufisque, Senegal, Mayor Oumar Cissé has launched a 278 million FCFA project to complete a 300-meter section of the central canal, formerly known as the East Canal. This reinforced concrete structure, which will be 11 meters wide, aims to connect the national road to the sea to improve water evacuation and reduce flooding risks and urban nuisances. The project, which had been stalled since 2014, is part of a broader municipal investment program for urban infrastructure.

In Burkina Faso, a new 1.032 billion FCFA crossing structure has been officially commissioned on the RN9 highway in the Guiriko/Bama region. The project replaces a temporary metal bridge that was installed after the 2024 floods damaged the previous infrastructure. The new 73-meter-long multi-cell culvert is designed to secure traffic on this strategic axis, which connects Bobo-Dioulasso, Bama, Kourouma, and Samandéni to Mali, ensuring more reliable regional integration and flood resilience.
