Balkan region faces widespread traffic disruptions due to roadworks
Multiple regions across the Balkans are experiencing significant traffic disruptions due to extensive roadwork, bridge repairs, and infrastructure reconstruction.
In Bosnia and Herzegovina, major disruptions include the closure of the Kakanj-Lašva highway section and the Nemila-Vranduk sub-section. Heavy vehicle traffic on the Foča-Sarajevo highway is restricted due to a landslide in Tuhalje, with repairs or a bypass expected by November 6. Other ongoing works affect the A-1 highway at Počitelj-Bijača and Sarajevo zapad-Lepenica, as well as various regional roads in Bugojno, Jajce, and Mostar.
In Serbia, Belgrade is facing major changes to public transport. Construction at the Novi Beograd station complex will result in the temporary suspension of tram lines 7L, 9L, and 13 until December 15, with several bus and tram alternatives established to navigate the construction zones.
Additional regional projects include road reconstruction in Velenje, Slovenia, involving the Klasirnica–Jezero road, and land acquisition processes for the Pišece–Zgornja Pohanca road in Slovenia. In Croatia, parking lot construction at the Marija Ružić sports pools in Čakovec will cause temporary closures on Športska Street in late October.
In Kozarci, Bosnia and Herzegovina, temporary full traffic stoppages are scheduled for the R413a road due to sanitation works.
