Infrastructure projects underway in Costa Rica and Honduras

Municipalities in Costa Rica and Honduras are implementing roadwork projects to improve local infrastructure and traffic flow.

In Alajuela, Costa Rica, the Municipality of Alajuela will begin the first stage of a road improvement project on Calle Lourdes in the San Rafael district on September 1. The project involves a total closure of a 150-meter stretch near the COOPESA intersection for approximately three months. This initial phase has a budget of ₡100 million, part of a larger ₡300 million investment intended to optimize road infrastructure and water management systems, including drainage and paving.

In San Pedro Sula, Honduras, authorities have enabled an alternative exit route in the El Carmen area to facilitate traffic during the construction of a new roundabout. San Pedro Sula Mayor Roberto Contreras supervised the opening of the provisional path, which was made possible through an agreement with local landowners. The roundabout project aims to reduce significant traffic congestion in the area, where commuters previously faced delays of up to ninety minutes.
