Infrastructure updates in Budapest and Bodrogköz region

Infrastructure and tourism developments are underway in Hungary and Slovakia. In Budapest, significant traffic restrictions will begin Monday at the Buda end of the Erzsébet Bridge. The Budapest Transport Center announced that the lane leading toward the Rudas Thermal Bath and Szent Gellért Square will be fully closed to vehicle traffic to facilitate the replacement of aging expansion joints. Additionally, the lane toward Attila út and Krisztinaváros will be reduced to a single lane. These works, which also include upgrading drainage systems and road surfaces, are expected to cause heavy congestion during peak hours. Drivers heading toward Szent Gellért Square can use a detour via Attila út, Szarvas tér, and Krisztinaváros.

In the Bodrogköz region, a cross-border project funded by the Interreg Hungary-Slovakia Program is set to renovate the area surrounding the 16th-century Csonkavár ruins in Királyhelmec, Slovakia. The project, which includes Cigánd, Hungary, has a budget of 320,000 euros. The reconstruction will improve roads, sidewalks, and green spaces, and add modern lighting and parking near the castle and Lorántffy Mansion. The initiative aims to create a sustainable tourism destination by connecting cultural and natural assets across the Bodrog, Tisza, and Latorca river regions. Completion is expected by August 31, 2028.
