ING Deutschland to launch its own credit card before Christmas
ING Deutschland, the German subsidiary of the Dutch banking group ING, announced that it will issue its own credit card before the Christmas shopping season. The rollout is planned for late 2026 with broader availability expected by mid‑2027. CEO Lars Stoy, who has led the subsidiary since 1 January 2025, said the card is intended to fill a long‑standing gap for customers who have a current account but lack a credit card, especially for travel, hotel bookings, car rentals and online purchases abroad.
At the same time the bank is redesigning its giro‑account offerings. While a decision on a free‑of‑charge giro account has been postponed, new account models are being developed to complement the upcoming card product. The initiative requires coordination across multiple countries and currencies for card issuance, billing and support processes.
