InJourney Airports prepares Bandung airport upgrade, merges BUMN hotels

InJourney Airports, operating as PT Angkasa Pura Indonesia (Persero), is advancing preparations to reopen and upgrade Bandung’s Husein Sastranegara Airport for commercial jet operations. The company has formed an Operational Readiness Activation and Transition (ORAT) team, is enhancing runway surfaces, taxiways and aprons, and boosting Airport Rescue & Fire Fighting capacity from category 5 to 7. Security upgrades include additional aviation security personnel, metal detectors and CCTV, while passenger facilities are being refurbished, including a new boarding lounge and terminal improvements.

Separately, Danantara, the investment arm of the state‑owned BPI, has signed Conditional Sale and Purchase Agreements to transfer 45 government‑owned hotels to InJourney’s hospitality arm. This consolidation will make InJourney the second‑largest hotel operator in Indonesia, with plans to manage up to 120 hotels, creating a more competitive and integrated tourism asset portfolio.

Both initiatives aim to strengthen Indonesia’s transport and hospitality infrastructure, supporting higher service standards and broader economic benefits.
