INMO Air3 smart glasses recalled due to overheating and burn risks

INMO International Technology Limited has issued a voluntary recall for approximately 1,643 INMO Air3 smart glasses in the United States and about 120 units in Canada due to a significant burn hazard. The recall follows ten reports of the device overheating, with users experiencing heat on their faces, foreheads, and ears.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and Health Canada have warned that the left temple of the glasses can overheat during extended use, posing a risk of serious injury or even death from burns. To address the issue, the manufacturer is offering free repairs via a system firmware update to version V3.16 rather than direct refunds.

The Air3 model was marketed as an all-in-one wearable computer capable of AI-assisted tasks like language translation and media streaming. While the company had previously implemented cooling measures such as graphene and superconducting copper, the overheating issue has led to the product being removed from several major sales channels, including Amazon and Kickstarter, and appearing out of stock on official retail sites.
