Inpasa proposes R$ 22 billion ethanol pipeline project in Brazil
Inpasa has presented ‘Project Pascal’ to the Brazilian Institute of the Environment and Renewable Natural Resources (Ibama) to begin federal environmental licensing. The R$ 22 billion project involves constructing two parallel pipelines spanning approximately 2,100 kilometers between Sinop, Mato Grosso, and Paulínia, São Paulo.
The first pipeline is designed to transport 13.3 billion liters of ethanol per year from the Center-West region to Paulínia, a major fuel distribution hub. From there, the ethanol can be distributed to large consumer centers or sent to the Port of Santos for export. This infrastructure aims to expand the market for corn produced in the Center-West and provide greater predictability for ethanol outflow.
The second pipeline will operate in the opposite direction, with a projected capacity of 6.6 billion liters of petroleum derivatives per year, moving products from Paulínia to Mato Grosso and Mato Grosso do Sul. The project is expected to reduce logistics costs by up to 20% and remove approximately 225,000 truck trips from highways annually, reducing dependence on road transport.
