Italy launches welfare card program and updates October 2026 pensions
The Italian government has launched a new edition of the ‘Carta Dedicata a Te’ social welfare program, allocating approximately 1 billion euros over 2026 and 2027. The initiative aims to support over 1.1 million families facing economic hardship and promote national agri-food consumption. Eligible households must have at least three members and an ISEE below 15,000 euros. Beneficiaries will receive 500 euros starting November 4, 2026, with a second installment of 500 euros scheduled for April 2027. No application is required, as families are identified through municipal and INPS data.
Separately, INPS has announced updates for October 2026 pension payments. Some retirees will see changes in their monthly amounts due to new tax benefits applied to certain pension-related benefits, such as Ape Sociale and isopensione, as well as the recognition of arrears accrued since the start of 2026. Payments may also reflect tax refunds or withholdings related to the 730 tax form.
