INS Sudarshini concludes port call in Portugal

The Indian Navy's sail training ship, INS Sudarshini, has concluded a port call at Ponta Delgada in the Azores, Portugal, as part of the Lokayan 2026 expedition. The visit included professional and cultural engagements with the Portuguese Navy aimed at strengthening maritime cooperation and interoperability.

During the stay, formal deck receptions were held on both INS Sudarshini and the Portuguese Navy’s sail training vessel, NRP Sagres. The ship also marked India’s 80th Independence Day with a Colours ceremony on August 15. Following the port call, the vessel has set sail for Lisbon.

A joint Passing Exercise (PASSEX) involving coordinated sail manoeuvres and communication drills between INS Sudarshini and NRP Sagres is scheduled for August 21. The Lokayan 26 deployment is a 10-month transoceanic expedition that began in January, intended to visit 18 foreign ports across 13 countries.
