INS Sudarshini conducts maritime diplomacy in Spain and Italy
The Indian Navy’s sail training ship, INS Sudarshini, is conducting the Lokayan 26 transoceanic expedition, making significant port calls in Europe to strengthen maritime ties.
In Italy, the vessel arrived at Livorno Port, where it conducted a Passage Exercise (PASSEX) with the Italian Navy’s sail training ship, ITS Palinuro. This exercise aimed to enhance interoperability and operational familiarity between the two navies. During the visit, the ship’s Commanding Officer, Commander Ravikanth, met with local Italian officials, including the Mayor of Livorno and the Commandant of the Italian Naval Academy.
Prior to the Italian visit, INS Sudarshini completed a port call in Barcelona, Spain. During its stay in Barcelona, the ship engaged in professional and cultural exchanges with the Spanish Navy and maritime authorities. The ship was also opened to the public, allowing local residents and the Indian diaspora to interact with the crew and trainees.
