Insomnia affects 62 percent of the Polish population
A recent National Health Test by Medonet indicates a significant prevalence of insomnia in Poland, with 62 percent of the population affected. Approximately 25 percent of Poles experience sleep disturbances at least several times a month.
Professor Adam Wichniak, head of the Sleep Medicine Center, notes that sleep disorders are a widespread issue across Europe, affecting roughly one in three adults. He warns that sleep deprivation can lead to immediate consequences such as irritability and impulsive behavior, as well as long-term health risks including cardiovascular disease, weight gain, diabetes, and mental health disorders.
Experts suggest that a lack of psychological relaxation before bed is a primary cause. Many individuals remain mentally active by watching news, completing chores, or using mobile phones right up until they lie down. Maintaining proper sleep hygiene and considering dietary habits are also highlighted as critical factors for improving sleep quality.
