Hungary: Nearly half of internet users use AI for health queries

A study by NN Biztosító reveals that approximately 46 percent of adult internet users in Hungary have used artificial intelligence for health-related inquiries. The research indicates that 70 percent of AI users within the 18-69 age demographic have posed medical questions to these tools.

Usage varies significantly by age: 65 percent of those aged 18-29 have consulted AI chatbots or assistants for health matters, while 25 percent of internet users over 60 have also utilized the technology. Common uses include symptom checking, self-diagnosis, interpreting lab results, and researching medications or side effects.

Despite high usage, trust remains cautious. Only 29 percent of users fully trust an AI-provided diagnosis or opinion, while 55 percent report having mixed feelings about the accuracy of the information received. Bencé Holló, CEO of NN Biztosító, noted that users appear to be seeking interpretation and guidance rather than replacing doctors entirely.
