Institutional integrity faces scrutiny in science and academia

An analysis of perceived systemic failures within scientific and academic institutions highlights concerns regarding research integrity and ideological indoctrination.

In the scientific community, research by John Ioannidis suggests significant flaws in published medical information. His meta-analysis indicated that 90% of published medical findings are flawed, with 80% of non-randomized studies and 25% of randomized trials being incorrect. Former New England Journal of Medicine editor Marcia Angell noted the difficulty in relying on published clinical research due to these issues, citing bias and a lack of rigorous scrutiny as primary drivers.

Regarding academia, there are concerns that Western universities are undergoing a process described as ‘the long march through the institutions.’ This concept suggests a long-term effort to transform society by influencing the education system through ideological indoctrination. The text draws historical parallels to totalitarian regimes, such as those under Stalin and Mao Zedong, to illustrate the potential consequences of using education to mold youth toward specific political ideologies.
