Instituto Visão para Todos introduces combined glaucoma and cataract surgery via SUS
Instituto Visão para Todos is introducing combined glaucoma and cataract surgery through the Unified Health System (SUS) in Paraíba. This advanced procedure allows for the simultaneous correction of cataracts and interventions to improve aqueous humor drainage, aiding in more effective intraocular pressure control.
The initiative aims to optimize patient recovery times and expand specialized care within the state's public health network. The technique is primarily indicated for patients diagnosed with cataracts associated with mild to moderate primary open-angle glaucoma. Under the presidency of Tarcízio Filho, the institution has focused on modernizing clinical protocols and increasing access to complex treatments across more than 60 municipalities.
