Dominican Republic implements new community infrastructure and education programs
Various public and private initiatives are being implemented across the Dominican Republic to enhance community services, education, and security.
In Azua, the government inaugurated a modern municipal funeral home in Los Toros, funded by the Los Toros Hydroelectric Plant. The project, totaling approximately RD$20 million, includes three chapels, a morgue, and administrative areas to serve over 20,000 residents.
In Santo Domingo Este, INFOTEP opened the Los Palmeros Technical Training Center with an investment of RD$16 million. The facility aims to provide professional training to hundreds of students in the surrounding communities.
Additionally, the Asociación Popular de Ahorros y Préstamos (APAP) launched the ‘Somos Formación Continua’ program, offering 500 full scholarships for specialized diplomas in fields such as cybersecurity and data analysis at several national universities.
In the National District, Mayor Carolina Mejía expanded the ‘Sectores Iluminados Más Seguros’ program by installing 224 LED lights across 36 streets to improve nighttime security in several neighborhoods.
