Intensified Russian attacks hit Kyiv, Odessa and Kharkiv as fighting continues in Ukraine

Ukraine's General Staff reported 219 armed clashes across multiple front sections, with the fiercest fighting around Pokrovsk in the Donbas industrial region, where Russian forces carried out more than 40 attacks on Ukrainian positions.

Russia also stepped up strikes on civilian targets. Around midnight, ballistic missiles struck the capital Kyiv, causing fires in two districts and a delayed air‑raid alarm. A rocket attack on the southern port city of Odessa injured six people, and explosions were reported in the eastern city of Kharkiv. The war, now over four years old, has seen Russia occupy roughly one‑fifth of Ukraine’s territory, while front‑line movement remains limited and Russian losses remain high.
