Inter Milan begins contract renewal talks with Hakan Calhanoglu
Inter Milan has initiated negotiations to renew the contract of midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu. Club official Baccin has contacted the player's agent, Gordon Stipic, to discuss an extension that could potentially run until 2028.
The negotiations are shaped by a new policy from the club's ownership, Oaktree, which focuses on managing the contracts of players over the age of 30. This strategy involves a potential reduction in Calhanoglu's current annual salary of 6.5 million euros to align with new internal wage parameters. The club is also looking toward shorter contract durations, such as two or three years.
While Calhanoglu remains a central figure in the tactical project under manager Simone Inzaghi, the club is also preparing for rotation. Alternatives in the midfield include Piotr Zielinski and the emerging Aleksandar Stankovic to manage the player's minutes and physical workload.
