Inter Milan targets Cristian Romero and John Stones to bolster defense

Inter Milan is actively working to strengthen its defense through two major transfer targets: Cristian Romero and John Stones.

Negotiations for Tottenham defender Cristian Romero are facing financial hurdles. While Inter is reportedly prepared to offer approximately €40 million, a significant gap remains regarding the player's salary demands, which are estimated at at least €6 million per season. To facilitate the move, Inter must also complete several player departures. Atletico Madrid currently holds a competitive advantage in the race for the Argentine international.

Simultaneously, Inter has secured the arrival of John Stones from Manchester City. The 32-year-old English defender joins on a two-year contract valued at €4 million per season. Stones is expected to reunite with former City teammate Manuel Akanji at Appiano Gentile as part of manager Cristian Chivu's defensive restructuring.

In addition to these major moves, Inter is monitoring Moussa Diaby from Al-Ittihad as a potential solution for the right-back position following the departure of Denzel Dumfries.
