Inter Milan Secures Cristian Romero Transfer from Tottenham for €40m
Inter Milan and Tottenham Hotspur have reached a verbal agreement for the €40 million (£34 million) transfer of Argentine centre‑back Cristian Romero. The deal, reported by several outlets, includes a basic financial package but still requires personal terms and agent commissions to be finalised.
Tottenham manager Roberto De Zerbi confirmed he has spoken with Romero about his travel plans but denied any involvement in transfer negotiations, stressing that the club respects the player’s wish to leave. Barcelona have been linked to the defender, but no concrete offer exists. Inter have also bolstered their defence by signing John Stones on a free transfer and are expected to add Romero to a back line that already includes recent signings Jan Paul van Hecke and Marcos Senesi.
The move would see Romero return to Serie A after spells with Genoa, Juventus and Atalanta, and would give Inter a high‑profile defender ahead of the new season while Tottenham look to rebuild their squad.
