Intercontinental Exchange partners with tZERO for NYSE tokenized securities
Intercontinental Exchange (ICE), the parent company of the New York Stock Exchange, has entered into an agreement with tZERO to develop infrastructure for a planned NYSE-affiliated tokenized securities platform. Under the memorandum of understanding, tZERO will serve as a design partner for the digital transfer-agent and broker-dealer systems required for on-chain settlement.
As part of the deal, ICE will invest in tZERO’s latest financing round and license its blockchain patent portfolio, which includes 103 patents across 23 families. These patents cover critical functions such as compliance-aware transfer logic, upgradeable smart-contract frameworks, and scalable corporate-action handling.
The partnership establishes a multi-vendor strategy for ICE, following the earlier appointment of Securitize as a digital transfer agent. The companies also intend to evaluate whether tZERO’s tokenized assets could be utilized as collateral within ICE clearing houses. The launch of the platform remains subject to regulatory approvals, technical requirements, and operational standards.
