Intercultural festivals held in Marchamalo and at MARPA
The town of Marchamalo, Spain, hosted its fifth ‘Marchamalo entre Culturas’ festival, setting a participation record with representatives from 15 countries. The event featured traditional dances, crafts, and gastronomy, with Colombia serving as the central focus. Key highlights included musical performances by Latin orchestras and awards presented to Senegalese actor Lamine Thior for his anti-racism work, and social worker Antonia del Olmo Manzano for her integration efforts through the association GuadaAcoge.
In France, the MARPA organization held a family and friends day themed around the five continents. The event included themed decorations, costumes, and culinary specialties from regions such as Africa, Oceania, Spain, India, and the Americas. Activities included gentle music-based gymnastics, guessing games, and musical performances by the group ‘Feu d’camps’ to promote social sharing among residents and their families.
