Intercultural festivals launch in Dresden and Mecklenburg-Vorpommern

Various intercultural initiatives are taking place across Germany, including the 36th Intercultural Days in Dresden and the Intercultural Week in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.

In Dresden, the event ‘Many Languages. One Home.’ features over 260 events running until October 11. The opening ceremony included musical performances by the Singasylum choir and Ukrainian pianist Stefaniia Zubko, alongside readings regarding the meaning of home. Local officials, including Saxon Integration Commissioner Martin Modschiedler and Dresden’s Integration and Foreigners Commissioner Luciana Cristina Marinho Schollmeier, attended the festivities.

In Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, the Intercultural Week operates under the national motto ‘dafür!’ (for it!). The program consists of workshops, lectures, and community formats designed to promote dialogue and reduce prejudice. State Integration Commissioner Jana Michael emphasized the importance of these events in strengthening democratic coexistence and called for openness and respect, particularly in observance of Refugee Day on October 2.
