International Crimes Tribunal jails former MP Badi in councilor murder case
The International Crimes Tribunal has ordered the imprisonment of former Member of Parliament Abdur Rahman Badi and three others in connection with the 2018 killing of Teknaf municipal councilor Ekramul Haque. The individuals sent to prison include Badi, Brigadier General Mahbub Alam, Brigadier General Miftah Uddin, and Colonel Anwar Latif Khan.
The case involves allegations of crimes against humanity regarding the death of Ekramul Haque, who was reportedly abducted in front of a hotel in Teknaf on May 26, 2018, and later killed in a purported RAB gunfight.
The tribunal has also issued orders to publish notices in national daily newspapers, calling for the surrender of seven fugitives, including former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, former Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, and former IGP Benazir Ahmed. The next hearing is scheduled for September 7.
